Shhh… It’s a secret

Written by Dave Towers at Now.

I’ve been picked to be part of Secret 7″ this year. They had over 7000 entries and edited them down to just 700. I’m so very proud to be one of those included.

If you haven’t heard of it, this is what it’s all about;

Secret 7″ take seven tracks from seven of the best-known musicians around and press each one 100 times to 7” vinyl.

They then invite Creatives from around the world to interpret the tracks in their own style for every 7”.

The seven hundred sleeves are exhibited and then sold for £50 apiece. You don’t know who created the sleeve, or even which song it’s for, until you have parted with your cash – the secret lies within. I won’t be able to share my artwork with anyone until after the event.

You could get yourself some artwork by Sir Peter Blake, Paul Smith, Yoko Ono, David Shrigley, Julian Opie, Martin Parr or me when the 7” go on sale on May 4th.

All of the money raised through sales goes to charity, this year to Nordoff Robbins, who are dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable children and adults through music therapy.

The exhibition opens to the public today at Somerset House, running until May 3rd.
